Email the administrator.

It's been a while since these posts (16 years), and I wanted to know if things have changed, if you can still become a moderator by emailing the admin. Is there a test you have to take?

I can say with some confidence that all of the currently active moderators were added directly by the site admin within the last 15 years. No test, but the ideal moderators are respected, civil members of the community, and cover a range of timezones to address issues whenever they may crop up. We spend most of our moderation time approving posts and blocking spam.

So, are new moderators still being made?

There isn't currently any demand for more moderators as our current team manages to take care of the queue in a reasonable amount of time.

Why are you so interested in the subject anyway? Someone with a dozen posts who's only been a registered user for a couple of months isn't going to be made a moderator regardless.

I trying to start my own forum elsewhere for a different topic, and thought, since I was here, I could ask how you guys handled it.
