? what? :? Some winmodem chipsets do.. some release drivers but limit there speed to 28k as an example.. unless you pay.

And as for not having enough money... old 56K ISA modems are dirt cheap, Most junk stores have them.. Heck, eBay has quite a few.. For like? $0.99 USD:

If you system lacks ISA like lot's of modern ones do, External modems are a viable option, A few connect to external Serial ports.
